The idea for the Henrico Community Food Bank started when founder Sudeshna realized that there wasn’t an entity dedicated solely to delivering food assistance to the 30,000 residents of Henrico County who are food insecure. From there, an idea blossomed into a powerful and dynamic nonprofit operation focused on providing food assistance to those in Henrico County who need it most.
What started as a kitchen table idea has, in the course of a year, flourished into a powerful force to fight hunger in our community. Now, backed by the support of a powerful grassroots community of volunteers, individuals, community groups, faith-based organizations, and corporate and community partners, Henrico Community Food Bank uses its mobile pantry model paired with a food assistance hotline to provide direct service and delivery to those experiencing food insecurity.
Provide access to nutritious food in an equitable and dignified manner to those in need.
HCFB envisions a County where healthy, nutritious food is available to all. Creating value and opportunities for clients thus empowering them to shape a secure and enriched future.
